Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment can be superior to upgraded Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
upgrade item are a form of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They improve the effectiveness of the item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be salvaged from items with upgrade components inside them, using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. The ability to absorb damage of an item of armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.
There are many different kinds of armor upgrade available in the game. Each one has a distinct impact. Some upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade an item can be given, as illustrated below.
Some upgrades also feature magic or a hybrid of magic and technology, which is identified by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either continuously updated or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can locate it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be used on armor pieces of the highest level. These upgrades can give a significant improvements in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The boost in defense generally isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. For instance an upgrade can improve the damage that is caused by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the higher the number of bars you will need to complete the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials the cost of upgrading will be lower.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and sets has changed. Previously you could search for an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your weapon or equipment to a higher level of rarity. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would reset.
It's possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You're better off buying gear that has low upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a higher likelihood of granting you highest tier blessings and perks.
To increase their level faster, many players prioritise upgrading their weapons. In addition players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to increase their power as well. Shepard for instance should upgrade his M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will increase the effectiveness of the weapon when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are utilized in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the level of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The quality of a diamond can be improved upon by the Jeweler, in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary depending on the tier the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.
All levels of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Unlike other upgrade components, jewels can be swapped out by a different identical jewel without damaging it. However, you can only replace the jewels in an item of equipment once.
Using more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable and is typically done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than steel, so the repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs to enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are upgradeable, as jewelry, by visiting the Jeweler for gold and scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components such as traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. You can find them in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can also be found on the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accept either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be utilized on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active whenever the hero is not in combat. This enables the hero to be more effective while inactive and also helps fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any slots from the talent tree that normally are filled with the hero's ideal stats.
A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true when you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item. It's best to upgrade just one crucial stat than two less important ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinket to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's map control abilities.
Apart from the items listed above, players can find other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be obtained by completing certain milestones in the story. For instance, completing a chapter’s main quest or beating a boss. You can check them out by selecting the achievement from the reward section of the hero's menu.
